Song:
History:
The melody and the lyrics of this song was written by two sisters.
- Mildred J. Hill - was an educator who later became a composer, organist, and pianist
- Patty Smith Hill - was a school teacher, probably where the original lyrics came from
The main reason this song (Good Morning To All) was to be a welcoming song the teacher would sing every morning, however, later it was published in a book for kindergarteners & became even more popular.
It is said that Patty had first put in "good morning dear teacher, good morning to you" but 40 years later it is believed that she put in "happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you"*
The song was finally published in 1935.
*There are many theories on how "Good Morning All" evolved to "Happy Birthday"
